WHAT ARE CBD TINCTURES?

Traditionally, tinctures were concentrated herbal extracts. CBD oil tinctures are made by soaking the cannabis flowers in alcohol, which pulls out the active ingredients in the plant and concentrates them in a liquid. Herbal tinctures have been used in traditional herbal medicine for thousands of years. The Pacific Roots 1500mg full spectrum CBD tincture is a potent tincture that delivers the effects of the cannabinoid molecules in a simple way for new users of cannabidiol (CBD).

COMMON QUESTIONS

Pacific Roots lemonade CBD tincture has an approximate total of 1500mg CBD per bottle. Each serving is one dropper full, or about 50mg of full spectrum CBD oil. For smaller doses, use the graduated dropper to calculate your desired dose.

When taking CBD under the tongue, it typically takes at least 60 minutes to start noticing the effects. Depending on the amount of CBD you take and your body’s endocannabinoid system the effects will have varying results.

CBD Tinctures are usually ingested by putting a specified amount of the oil under the tongue, where it should sit for 30-60 seconds before being swallowed. This method of ingestion allows for the quick absorption of the cannabinoids into the body. Once swallowed the solution is then ingested into the system as a whole. Depending on the potency, tinctures can have a tendency to last longer in the body than inhalants and they are usually absorbed better than topicals, edibles, or capsules.

The Pacific Roots lemonade CBD tincture has approximately 1500mg of full spectrum CBD per tincture bottle. Please refer to our third-party certificate of testing for the exact potency here.

CBD’s effects are always individual. A serving size can be as small as 1mg and go up to 250mg. To find the amount of CBD that’s right for you, start with the lowest dosage and then wait a couple of hours to see how your body reacts. From there, increase the dosage slowly as needed, until you find the right dosage for your body.

For first time consumers, we suggest starting with 1/4 dropper (~12mg) and working up to a full dropper, 1ml or 50mg However, every person is different, it is really important to listen to your body!

Sun is an enemy to CBD! Keep the CBD tincture out of the sun in a dark and dry location at room temperature or in the refrigerator (do not freeze).

The short answer is no, you cannot overdose on CBD and you are not likely to get sick. A 2017 W.H.O. Report concluded that CBD is “generally well-tolerated with a good safety profile”. The report also states that “in humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.” However, according to another study published in 2017 some people may experience side effects, including fatigue, diarrhea, changes in appetite, and changes in weight. Because of this, we recommend starting with a lower dose and building up as you know how your body reacts to CBD.

Always consult your doctor to make sure CBD is safe for you. CBD can interact with some prescription medications and should never be used/taken if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed on a CBD tincture product container, do not use the product.

Full Spectrum CBD is a whole-plant cannabidiol (CBD) oil with high concentrations of CBD, as well as all other cannabinoids, terpenes, and trace amounts of THC, which are found in the cannabis plant.

Full spectrum CBD oil is derived from hemp and per federal regulations cannot be used if the finished products have more than 0.3% THC.

THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical found in marajuana and is responsible for most of its psychological effects. Per the National Institute on Drug Abuse, THC acts a lot like the cannabinoid chemicals made naturally by the body.

Full spectrum CBD that is legal under the USDA Farm Bill does not contain enough THC to cause any of the psychological effects referred to above.

In some cases, cannabinoid products may be made from marajuana and can have more than 0.3% THC. Pacific Roots does not sell these types of products.

The entourage effect is the theory that cannabidiol (CBD) works better when all the compounds in cannabis work together. The compounds produce a better effect together than when they are taken alone.

CBD tincture bottles are small and very portable, which means you can take them wherever you go and benefit from the CBD whenever you need it. The tincture bottle with CBD can easily fit in your purse, backpack, or even your pocket (though we don’t recommend putting glass bottles in pockets!). The CBD can be taken directly or used in drinks or soups at any time.

As with any edible CBD product, ingesting is the slowest way to absorb CBD into the bloodstream. In other words, it can take a while for the effects of CBD to be felt. The time is largely dependent on the user’s body and how quickly it reacts to the CBD.

This is a subjective question as everyone has a different condition that they are working on. Some clients ingest tincture with CBD once a day, while others may need several doses per day. Newcomers may want to start with one CBD serving to see how they react and then increase the usage over time, if needed. Your body will be the judge regarding the correct dosage.

Hemp-derived CBD products (with less than 0.3 percent THC) are legal on the federal level, but are still illegal under some state laws. Check your state’s laws and those of anywhere you travel. Non-prescription CBD products are not FDA-approved.

Full spectrum tinctures that contain at or less than 0.3% THC and have been tested in third-party labs for potency and contaminants pass the USDA Farm Bill test.

Please check with the state you are located in. Each state has different rules. Pacific Roots does not recommend that our full spectrum CBD tinctures be used by anyone under the age of 18 without parental consent.

These terms are often used interchangeably, but they are very different. Companies do this on purpose to confuse customers… and Amazon!

Hemp oil (also known as Hemp Extract) is any oil or extract that comes from the hemp plant. Hemp seed oil, CBD Oil and a CBD Oil Tinctures are all types of Hemp oil or Hemp extract. So what are the differences between these three types of oils?

Hemp Seed Oil is extracted from hemp seeds. Hemp seeds contain no CBD or THC. Hemp seeds are totally legal and can be purchased in any health food store. Pure hemp seed oil is devoid of CBD but has many amazing health properties and benefits. Hemp seed oil contains antioxidants (Vitamin E), carotene (the precursor to Vitamin A), phytosterols, phospholipids and several minerals including calcium, magnesium, sulfur, potassium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Pacific Roots sells a pure organic hemp seed oil. Amazon currently does not allow for the sale of CBD products. Beware of sellers on Amazon that sell “hemp seed oil tinctures” as “hemp extract” to allude to the presence of CBD. Don’t be fooled!

CBD Oil is extracted from the hemp plant and contains cannabidiol (CBD). Cannabinoids (ie CBD, CBG, CBN, THC etc) develop predominantly in the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant. After the hemp plant is pressed for oil, it goes through different phases of extraction. Phases of CBD oil include crude oil, winterized crude, full spectrum oil, broad spectrum oil, and CBD isolate. These various oils are used to create the end user products at legal levels.

CBD oils can be produced a few different ways. The two most common forms are the alcohol extraction method and the CO2 extraction method. These methods pull the oil from the seeds, flowers or stalk of the hemp plant.

CBD Tinctures are made from the various raw forms of CBD Oil. They are diluted with a carrier oil (most commonly used are MCT or hemp seed oil) to the desired potency and often flavored to improve taste. CBD has a very distinct taste!

A tincture is defined as a health product that is created through an alcohol extraction process and draws healing qualities from a plant. Although a tincture can be an oil, not all oils are tinctures.

For a more detailed description we recommend this article.

Don’t be fooled by the term “Hemp Extract.” Anything that comes from the hemp plant can be termed “hemp extract.” To check if there is really CBD in your tincture, look for a COA (Certificate of Analysis) from a 3rd Party Source (this means that it is tested by a laboratory not affiliated with the manufacturer.)

A product made from CBD Isolate, should have a graph, diagram or analysis similar to the below image. It should have no other cannabinoids other than CBD (with possible small amounts of CBD-V or CBD-A). It should have non-detectable amounts of THC.

A product made from Broad Spectrum CBD, should have a graph, diagram or analysis similar to the below image. It could have cannabinoids other than CBD (such as CBG, CBN, etc) but there should be non-detectable amounts of THC.

A product made from Full Spectrum CBD should have a graph, diagram or analysis similar to the below image. It should have other cannabinoids other than CBD (such as CBG, CBN, etc) but there should be 0.3% or less of THC.

Pacific Roots always uses oils (isolates and distillates) that meet specific criteria for safety, quality, and transparency. Each of our products use oils that:

  • are made and tested at third-party laboratories that are ISO certified
  • are made with USA organically grown hemp
  • contains no more than 0.3% THC following manufacturing
  • pass tests for harmful materials like pesticides and solvents
  • are manufactured in a cGMP facility
  • are sustainably farmed
  • are non-GMO
  • are fully licensed with state authorities
  • follow documented Standard Operating Procedures
  • are approved by our CBDTQM guidelines

You need to find a trusted CBD manufacturing company. A company that focuses on quality and transparency is key to finding a CBD tincture that is safe and effective. Two main quality items to keep an eye open for are COAs and a medical director.

A COA or certificate of analysis is a test that can show CBD potency and sometimes purity. A quality manufacturer will have two rounds of COA testing. The first round should be a third-party test of the raw CBD oil. This first test should analyze the purity of the oil, from pesticides to residual solvents. The second test is another third-party test on the finished product that should be easily accessible to the user. This second test looks at the potency of the CBD product making sure it is in compliance with the USDA Farm Bill.

Having a medical director on staff is essential when manufacturing CBD products for human use. Cannabidiol has a large effect on human bodily systems. Once CBD enters the body it passes through the bloodstream and interacts with the endocannabinoid system. The medical director will have direct knowledge of the human body and the endocannabinoid system, and help to an extent in formulating the correct CBD dosage and product formulation.

A final note. There are other quality marks to look at that all CBD manufacturing companies should follow such as: no added fillers, organically grown hemp, non-GMO, licensed hemp manufacturer in their state (you should be able to ask for and see their hemp permit), and product liability insurance. Unfortunately, there is a big gap in the market for quality CBD products. Pacific Roots CBD products have the highest quality control on the market to ensure product safety, called the CBDTQM guidelines.
