You need to find a trusted CBD manufacturing company. A company that focuses on quality and transparency is key to finding CBD products that are safe and effective. Two main quality items to keep an eye open for are COAs (certificates of analysis) and a medical director.

Pacific Roots uses third-party laboratories to test the raw oil and then the finished products because a quality manufacturer will have two rounds of COA testing. This first test analyzes the purity of the oil, from pesticides to residual solvents. The second test looks at the potency of the finished product making sure it is in compliance with the USDA Farm Bill.

Having a medical director on staff is essential when manufacturing CBD products for human use. Cannabidiol has a large effect on human bodily systems. Once CBD enters the body it passes through the bloodstream and interacts with the endocannabinoid system. The medical director will have direct knowledge of the human body and the endocannabinoid system, and help to an extent in formulating the correct CBD dosage and product formulation.

A final note. There are other quality markers to look at that all CBD manufacturing companies should follow such as: no added fillers, organically grown hemp, non-GMO, licensed hemp manufacturer in their state (you should be able to ask for and see their hemp permit), and product liability insurance. Unfortunately, there is a big gap in the market for quality CBD products. Pacific Roots CBD products have the highest quality control on the market to ensure product safety, called the CBDTQM guidelines.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEMP, MARIJUANA, AND CANNABIS?

Okay, this gets REALLY confusing! The scientific, legal, and common meanings are all different and these words get conflated, misused, and misinterpreted all the time. Not to mention, if you saw a hemp plant and a marijuana plant sitting side by side, you would never be able to tell the difference! This creates confusion and suspicion for consumers, law makers, and law enforcement. Let’s try and break this down.

Common Vernacular

The word “cannabis” has become synonymous with the stuff that makes you high. People throw the terms hemp, marijuana and cannabis out interchangeably. In some ways, they are the same… in other ways, they are very, very different. Still confused? Read on!

Scientifically Speaking

Technically ALL hemp and marijuana are both Cannabis plants. Cannabis is the genus that all hemp and marijuana plants are classified. Two of the most popular species are sativa and indica. These plants are commonly known by their scientific names Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica. There are many subspecies, or strains, of each species. For example, there are flower strains like Pineapple Express, OG Kush, Sour Space Candy, Spectrum, etc.. Strains are bred and crossbred (or hybridized) for specific traits or characteristics, not unlike how dogs or horses are bred.

Legally Speaking (in the United States)

The US Government determined that the difference between hemp and marijuana is the amount of THC in the plant. The Farm Bills defined the fulcrum between the two at 0.3% THC. To put it simply:

≤0.3% THC = Hemp (Legal in the US)

>.3% THC= Marijuana (Not Legal unless States allow recreational or medicinal marijuana)

So why pick THC as the difference? THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is a chemical found in Cannabis plants and at the time the Farm Bills were drafted, it was thought to be responsible for most of cannabis’ psychological effects. Per the National Institute on Drug Abuse, THC acts a lot like the cannabinoid chemicals made naturally by the body. Lawmakers picked out 0.3% as the tipping point between making a person high or not. In other countries, these percentages are different.

To make things even MORE confusing, they’ve discovered more than one type of THC in the cannabis plants! To name a few, you’ll find Delta 9, THC-A, THC-V, and Delta 8. Each does something cool and unique… but not all of these THC derivatives get you “high.”

Making things more complicated, each state has set definitions for how to calculate the 0.3% THC for hemp products. Most states calculate the overall amount Delta 9 (the original THC thought to make you high). While the rest calculate the total THC between THC-A and Delta 9 (there is a formula for this that takes into account the conversion of THC-A into Delta 9 when it burns).

However, no states saw Delta 8 coming when they drafted anything. It makes you high and it’s still legal. The DEA is working on banning it.

Once the Farm Bills allowed for the legal growing of hemp, farmers selected strains of cannabis that were high in CBD and low in THC. After generations of breeding, high CBD strains of hemp are now plentiful but look and smell EXACTLY like marijuana. So how can law enforcement tell the difference? The only way to tell is from testing the plant in a lab. You’ll hear stories about truckloads of cannabis being seized only to be released later as legal hemp.

Why is this all so confusing? Mainly because research is only beginning on the magnificently complex cannabis plants! The more it is studied, the more we learn. Education is the key! Pacific Roots only sells legal THC hemp products.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Choosing the right CBD product to start with is a very personal decision and is based on multiple factors. For instance, do you have joint or muscle discomfort? Then you might choose a CBD topical, such as a CBD patch or CBD muscle cream. However, you could also choose a CBD edible, like a CBD tincture or a CBD gummy.

The first product most CBD beginners start with are CBD edibles. Within the edible category, most start with CBD tinctures. However, this isn’t a universal rule. CBD gummies and CBD honey sticks are also a great place to start. The sweet taste of both do a great job at disguising the taste of CBD.

Only you can decide which CBD product is the best for you and your needs. We suggest you click on each of the Pacific Roots product pages to find the CBD product which sounds just right for you and your needs.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is used a lot for health and wellness. However, CBD has not been approved by the FDA to treat or cure medical conditions such as pain, depression, and anxiety. There are currently many CBD studies being done, which we hope will accelerate the official use of CBD in the medical field. With that said, CBD companies should not make any medical claims regarding their CBD products. All Pacific Roots CBD products are dietary supplements and we do not claim that they can treat or cure any illness.

The short answer is no, you cannot overdose on CBD and you are not likely to get sick. A 2017 W.H.O. Report concluded that CBD is “generally well-tolerated with a good safety profile”.  The report also states that “in humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.”  However, according to another study published in 2017 some people may experience side effects, including fatigue, diarrhea, changes in appetite, and changes in weight. Because of this, we recommend starting with a lower dose and building up as you learn how your body reacts to CBD.

Always consult your doctor to make sure CBD is safe for you. CBD can interact with some prescription medications and your physician should approve use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Full Spectrum CBD is a whole-plant cannabidiol (CBD) oil with high concentrations of CBD, as well as all other cannabinoids, terpenes, and trace amounts of THC, which are found in the cannabis plant. All Pacific Roots CBD products are considered legal hemp (<.3% THC).

Full spectrum CBD oil is derived from hemp. If a product contains <.3% THC, it is considered legal hemp. Per federal regulations it is considered marijuana if it has more than 0.3% THC. All Pacific Roots CBD products are considered legal hemp (<.3% THC).

THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the chemical found in cannabis and is responsible for most of its psychological effects. Per the National Institute on Drug Abuse, THC acts a lot like the cannabinoid chemicals made naturally by the body.

Full spectrum CBD that is legal under the USDA Farm Bill does not contain enough THC to cause any of the psychological effects referred to above.

In some cases, cannabinoid products may be made from marijuana and can have more than 0.3% THC. Pacific Roots does not sell these types of products. Pacific Roots only sells legal hemp products

This is a subjective question as everyone has a different condition that they are working on. Some clients ingest CBD once a day, while others may need several doses per day. Newcomers may want to start with one CBD serving to see how they react and then increase the usage over time, if needed. Your body will be the judge regarding the correct dosage.

Cannabidol (CBD) has a different effect on everyone. It is not a one size fits all substance. A common reaction of using CBD is a relaxing feeling, whether it is physical or mental. Our CBD products will not give you a psychoactive “high” feeling. This is because Pacific Roots only manufactures using hemp derived CBD at or less than 0.3% THC. THC is the component in marijuana which gives the high feeling. Because Pacific Roots products are made with at or less than 0.3% THC, there is not enough THC to get you high.

Most CBD topical products are used to provide a measured dose of CBD (cannabidiol) to your bloodstream. CBD topicals are applied to the skin, which allows a penetration of the skin layers, getting the cannabidiol (CBD) to the bloodstream. According to Science Direct, “Transdermal drug delivery involves drug diffusion through distinct layers of the skin into systemic or blood circulation to provoke therapeutic effect”.

CBD patch and CBD cream topicals provide fast acting targeted CBD. The high concentration of CBD can be applied almost anywhere on your body to provide comfort. These types of hemp CBD topicals work to provide CBD directly to the targeted areas and are discreet for your everyday use.

Some CBD topicals provide more results than adding relaxation and comfort. CBD face washes are designed to provide a deep face cleansing without overdrying the skin.

Just as the word edible suggests, a CBD edible is anything containing CBD that can be taken orally. CBD edibles are a fast, easy way to ingest CBD. Almost any food or beverage can be infused with CBD, making CBD edibles one of the most popular ways to use this cannabinoid. CBD edible products range from CBD tinctures and CBD honey, to CBD gummies and more.

CBD edibles, such as CBD honey, CBD gummies, and CBD tinctures work with special receptors in your body called the ECS (endocannabinoid system). This ECS has properties throughout your body: in your immune system, brain, spine, elsewhere. Why is this important? The ECS helps with balancing your body to a state of well being and improving your overall health.
